Who Is Dallas Clayton?
Daniel Neville
Designers and illustrators - I think - have always managed to create the idea that they are somehow different and odd compared to the rest of us. To a certain extent that might be true, however there are some out there who seem to see the world in a different way completely. Dallas Clayton is one of these people - and he is drawn to express what he sees in words, pictures and sometimes even "wrapped and plastic and sold in important stores"
Dallas Clayton is really an artist in the truest sense - his style reminds me slightly of Edward Monkton with a dash of Dr Suess. Like Monkton, he produces a series of short thoughts each with their own illustration as well making a bit of money off some thought provoking t-shirt and bags. But by far his best work is his debut children's book called simply 'An Awesome Book' - a crazy story involving rocket powered unicorns and important dreams - A story Dr Suess would approve of.
Dallas Clayton is one of those artists who will put a smile on your face no matter what. Clayton himself states - "I am most interested in making people happy" and then adds "When I am not writing for children I am writing for adults and the companies adults run, drawing pictures for those adults, and reading things out loud to crowds of strangers... I love strangers." For more of Dallas Clayton's work vist his website here or check out more of his work below.
