FNB Bounty Winner.
Matt Riley
Its been a crazy ride since we started out about 6 weeks ago, and its come full circle with the announcement of our first ever Bounty Winner. Announcing the winner gives us so much happiness. It means clients can get amazing ideas from the four corners of the planet, and creatives can make really great money!
On Wednesday we gave you an evil little tease about the winner of the FNB brief and then we hatched a ridiculous plan to print a giant cheque and go find our winner. It turned out our winner was from France and so ensued a race across (under) the English Channel, giant cheque in hand boarding trains, tubes, buses and bicycles. We got stared at, got kicked off the Arc de Triomphe by police who thought we were protesters, ate strange parts of a pig and then defiantly rode bicycles up the Champs- Élysées . Good times.
We have loads of footage from the trip wich we will share with you soon, but while we splice and edit and mix and mash up our footage here’s the first chat with our Bounty Winner!
First and foremost, congratulations on winning our very first Bounty. Did you think you had the winning Idea?
I first submitted two ideas, that I wasn’t very happy with. Creatively they were ok, but both of them could have been potentially dangerous for the image of “real” bank offices. It’s only when I decided not to bother with the finalized creative execution that I came to a third, lastminute idea. An idea that was much too simple to win, I thought.
So I had already prepared some good excuses... You know, like, “anyway it wasn’t the right client for us”, or “we’re going to pitch a much bigger competitor soon”….
Basically, my job is to digest heavy clients’ briefs, and transform them into inspiring stories for the creative teams. And it takes very long workdays (and a healthy digestive system) to make things shorter.
Apart from the typical creative monitoring websites (creativity-online, Contagious, etc.), I always feel inspired after a visit to weburbanist.com, specialized in all things urban. I’m also a big fan of the smart new business ideas of springwise.com – isn’t the truth in the product ?
You are living in Paris at the moment. Do you have a few secret spots you go to find inspiration?
In Paris, just like in any other city, there’s nothing more insightful than keeping an ear open when dining out. I guess food makes people confident and talkative.
Much less than on the losing ones ! Once you have a solid strategic process, ideas often come more fluently - and harmlessly.
We all want to know what you are going to do with the $2500. Do you have any plans ?

Any chance of seeing the winning work?
any chance of getting a look at the winning submission..
Hey Guys - definately not :) . thats the whole point. If you've uploaded an Idea and it never won - then FNB can't use it , and the rest of the world cant see it.
Hey guys, you can post ideas, opportunities and a lot more on our website. http://www.bizwave.com
Nice one, congrats buddy!
Yes - but why can't we see the winning idea?
Hi Marc,
the crux of idea bounty is that Ideas that are not bought remain the property of creatives, and those that are become the clients to use at their discretion...so showing off the winning (or any idea) defeats the purpose.
Well done to the winner!
absolutely brilliant.
