Scacchi Clay Stop Motion

Zac Rusagara

This week's stop motion we look at the brilliant and talented Riccardo Crocetta from Italy. Having studied design at the University of Rome he quickly found a love for animation, and then got into stop motion. His stop motion Video has received critical acclaim from animation enthusiasts as well as scoring an interview with Focus Features, the production house.

Inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey, he decided to create a Chess stop motion video which has gone on to become the most watched video on YouTube in his home country, Italy.

Riccardo wanted to specifically work with clay for this video since he was emulating his mentor Stanley Kubrick, the legendary director. Clay stop motion is very difficult and requires a lot of time and patience. But it also illustrates ones talent and ability to adapt and use technology as well as raw talent. Most of all it is a way that allows the maximum way to express yourself. This has been the driving force behind Ricardo’s work. What do you think of this talented guy Ricardo Crocetta?

Create one for us and send it in to guestblogger@ideabounty.com and we can show your work off to the community.
Thanks, Zac
