ISHR: Scared Leaders
Daniel Neville
Today we take a look at a print campaign from the ISHR (International Society for Human Rights) that was run almost over a year ago. The interesting thing about these ads? Well they seem to be reflecting some of the bigger current political issues we are facing today. Im sure you all know about the social/political revolutions that have been happening in places like Tunisia, Egypt and Libya and although the internet is not the only contributor to helping these revolutions on their way there is no doubt denying that it did not play a role which is what makes these ISHR print ads so interesting.
The ISHR argues that the Internet has become a weapon in defence of Human Rights, which many governments censor, restrict, prohibit and above all fear. Interestingly enough during the uprising in Egypt for example the government cut off access to the internet - revealing the truth in the ISHR's words. So dating all the way back in late 2009 there was already someone predicting the future. Pictured above are Kim Jong-Il (North Korea) Robert Mugabe (Zimbabwe) and below Muammar Gaddafi (Libya) Fidel Castro (Cuba) Hugo Chávez (Venezuela) and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (Iran)
