Stop Motion Wednesday: Lego CL!CK & The Brick Thief

Daniel Neville

For those of you who have been flowing this blog for a while will know that I am a huge fan of Lego. Yes Lego has evolved a bit since I was a kid but the multicoloured building blocks are still a very common toy in children's playrooms around the world. The interesting thing is that Lego never lost its appeal to those who grew up with it and recently Lego has shifted some of its marketing budget toward targeting this demographic. Last year Lego kicked off this particular strategy with a short stop motion film called CL!CK which followed a crazy moustached inventor who discovers the inspiration that Lego can provide to an 'ideas' man such as himself. Check it out below:

Following on from CL!CK Lego released a follow up on shorts called "The Brick Thief" the short film shows the crazy moustached inventor from CL!CK (he is the thief) taking a few Legos from all over and then building with his imagination, truly showing us that “It only takes a few bricks to make something.” The Brick Thief follows on nicely style wise from CL!CK and I don't really have to harp on about how beautifully its made. Like I mentioned before I doubt these shorts are aimed at kids but rather at those of us who grew up and did not quite lose the passion for the plastic bricks. To me the film is there to inspire adults (from engineers to designers and entrepreneurs) to think more creatively with their hands - embrace the tangible and create. Enjoy.
