BMW Flash Projection

Daniel Neville

To be quite honest this campaign from BMW freaks me out a little bit but at the same time is still way too cool not to mention. I find the campaign freaky because it boarders on subliminal advertising and attempts to get the BMW logo inside the heads of potential motorbike fans. This is the way it worked:

So apart from the creepy subliminal advertising element I really like this campaign - involving your audience is something lots of brands struggle to do effectively. Once more to do something that is inline with your brand identity is even harder. The BMW flash projection is defiantly an example of innovative adverting and it showed when it won an Epica Award earlier this year. What do you think? Cool or creepy?

Advertising, that is the what companies do to promote their latest product. It is where they unveil their latest product. An audience in a German film theater recently saw the BMW logo appear in an unusual place. The screening of a new BMW advertisement featured a display of flash projection technology. People of the viewers could see the BMW emblem with their eyes closed after viewing the ad. Viewer’s people interviewed after the show were excited, however the stunt raises questions about whether the technique is safe, or even legal.
