The Vodafone Power Pinata Facebook Challenge!
Daniel Neville
Have you ever seen a robot smash a piñata with a baseball bat? Well if you have not ever been lucky enough to witness such a thing you now have a chance. Introducing the Vodafone Power Pinata Facebook Challenge!
The campaign is focused on a robot (who's name for some reason is 'Carlos') with a baseball bat, hidden away in a secret warehouse, ready to smash a really large piñata that will instantly release 500 pretty cool prizes (including things like Samsung Galaxy Tablets and Mexican Wrestling Masks) to the Facebook community, on a first come first serve basis once it breaks.
You might be wondering why I think this is such a cool idea. Well for starters it really shows the potential for online activities to create a real world outcome - and more than that an outcome that can be enjoyed no matter where your physical location is. In my mind Vodafone's Pinata serves no other objective other than to provide the brands fans with something entertaining and unique - I ended up spending a good 20 min hitting the pinata - infact they even say this themselves "It's just one of many things we're doing for (and with!) our friends on Facebook just for fun. We hope you like it!" Great to see a brand put some much effort into something that is really just a bit of fun - and hey if it grows the brand at the same time = bonus!
