Stop Motion Wednesday - AT-AT Day Afternoon
Daniel Neville
"When I was a kid, there are two things I wanted badly and never got... A real dog and a Kenner AT-AT Walker."
If there was ever a thought that sparked one of the coolest - could possibly use the word cute too - stop motion animations of the year the above statement is it. AT-AT Day Afternoon is a perfect example of a simple idea transformed into a great little short. Created by Patrick Boivin the short shows a typical day in the life of a pet AT-AT Walker, straight out of Star Wars. I love the idea of giving the toy the life like motions of a pet dog. Oh and Jabba the Hut as 'AT-AT" poo is a brilliant touch, enjoy:
Incase you are interested the film is actually a combination of live footage and stop motion animation that has then been composited together - check out the making of below to get a better idea of how it was done. On that note check out some of Patrick Boivins other creations - he was also responsible for the short 'Iron Baby' - the man is a pro at making the kinda content the internet eats for breakfast.
