Stop Motion Wednesday - Crooked Rot

Daniel Neville

Over the last year or so we have seen stop motion animation start to crop up more and more as a style in television ads for some big brands - the best examples have to be Amazon and Olympus Cameras. But today I thought we would take a few steps back and look at a much older stop motion animation (more of a short film really) that was created just as digital SLR cameras were becoming popular. So enjoy this little gem below titled Crooked (Orcus) Rot by David Firth;

Im sure you will agree that Crooked (Orcus) Rot is a bit on the bizarre side of things - infact its so bizarre you could mistake it for the stop motion love child of David Lynch and Salvador Dali. Never the less it does illustrate how much better an SLR camera does with capturing natural light and since they have become cheep enough for almost anyone to own one we now know why there is so much amazing stop motion work out there! Oh incase you were wondering the music is by composer Marcus Fjellström and Crooked (Orcus) Rot is a 100% stop motion film - no CGI, after effects or computer filters used. That actually makes it more creepy….
