Just One Of Those Good Ideas - Trailblazers

Daniel Neville

Don't you hate it when you have an Idea only to start looking into making it happen and find that infact it was such a good Idea someone else got there before you…happens to me all the time. Anyway, a couple of nights ago Tim, head of Idea Bountys sitter company BrandsEye, were chatting about how cool it would be to create a structured game that was essential a race across Wikipedia using links… well guess what it exists - infact many of them exist. I looked into it a bit more an found that 'web racing' is quite a big thing. Introducing Trailblazers - "A web surfing contest with no keyboard and no Google Allowed"

Search engines have made web surfing easy - infact I hardly hear the term anymore - but the question is can you find your way from Amazon to the Pirate Bay only using links? That was the challenge leveled to participants of Trailblazers, a web browsing competition that recently held its inaugural contest in Stuttgart, Germany. Participants were challenged to "Surf the classic way from amazon to pirate bay."

From their site it looks like a guy named "Tobi" won the last competition - although im not sure how - apparently one of the pairs that the contestants had to race between was www.apple.com to http://get.adobe.com/de/products/flashplayer/ - an amusing one to say the least! Over all I think this is an awesome Idea and cant wait to see if Trailblazers picks up speed. I would love to see a more structure site and rules etc… What do you think of 'web surfing' contests?
