Coca Cola & The Wayne Rooney GOAL CELEBRATION!

Ravi Reddy

So I was busy doing some work for a change until the Idea Bounty Captain himself sent me this video! This TV spot created by Coca-Cola features an energetic Wayne Rooney participating in a commercial that’s being shot. All goes well, until the Director (James Corden, known to many as the robotic dancing “Smithy” from the British sitcom “Gavin and Stacey”) attempts to show Rooney how to celebrate after scoring a goal. The result is this hilarious video below:

Non-Sports fan hey? Bet if I mention the name “Beckham” it might ring a bell! Similarly, Wayne Rooney plays for Manchester United, the club in which David Beckham became the king of the Free kick! Rooney’s claim to fame was being selected as a striker for the English National team at the mere age of 18 years old with only 2 years experience in the English Premiere League. This is an awesome campaign, which leads on nicely from the initial Coca-Cola advert featuring Roger Milla, a former Cameroonian Striker in the 1990 Soccer world cup celebrating after scoring a goal against Romania. He was performing the samba to the many fans situated in front of the corner flag - Rooney’s celebration above is perhaps not as inspired but it goes along way to positioning the soft drink giant as the owner of ‘happiness’ and ‘celebration’ at the 2010 World Cup.
