Stop Motion Wednesday - Double Trouble, "Minilogue/hitchhikers choice"

Daniel Neville

I have a shocking admission to make, especially since I call myself a schizophrenic audiophile, but I have only begun to appreciate the fine art of electronic music about two years ago - up to that point I was of the opinion that anything that did not include a real instrument (a bit of software is not an instrument) was not real music… One of the artists that I have come across (and they are really quite good) is Minilogue who are a Swedish progressive house/minimalist techno music project. Minilogue is a portmanteau of minimal (the musical style) and dialogue, which refers to music as a form of communication. Not only does this come through in their music but in their videos which I shockingly (as it seems my habit with this genera) only stumbled across last weekend.

Created by illustrator, claymation artist Kristofer Strom the music video for Minilogue's track "Hitchhikers Choice" seems to grow and evolve with the song - almost as if the music and illustrations were talking to each other. If this was not enough there are infact two versions of the music video out there, one which is an illustrated 'storyboarded' version and then one done in full claymation - again awesome to see the two unfold in parallel, creating almost a dialogue not only between music and images but between the videos themselves… enjoy:
