Pixels - An Invasion: Retro Gaming

Daniel Neville

Occasionally a short film or video will pop up on the net and it will explode (gaining millions of views) with in a few days. Patrick Jean's new film titled PIXELS is a great example of this. There are quite a few short films out there that are based on the same concept and technique but Patrick's execution takes it to another level.

Only only is the film ambitious in its undertaking (the depiction of New York City being destroyed by pixels) but it is an awesomely clever and detailed execution. From Donkey Kong on the Empire State building, Tetris blocks filling in art deco skyscrapers, Frogger leaping between the taxies to watching the Brooklyn bridge being destroyed by a game of PONG - Partick has managed to cram in almost every retro game ever created. Enjoy... I did!
