Stop Motion Wednesday: Going West
Mari Basson
Every now and then I find things that I wish were never made so I can claim it for myself one day. Like this short film for the New Zealand Book Council made using stop motion by Colenso BBDO. The film was created by Andersen M Studio and shows the printed word coming to life in a way that will strike a chord with any book lover or entice those with their much loved ebooks to pick up a real book for a change.
Admittedly I’ve seen this concept used before in print adverting and using books physically to create the stories they tell is nothing new, but this ad is just beautiful and executed with such immense perfection that I’m willing to disregard its questionable originality.
It also reminds me of one of my favourite paper artists, Peter Callesen – worth checking out if his name rings no bells.
