Idea Bounty At TechnologyWorld09
Daniel Neville
Following winning a tech mashup event in London earlier in the year, the Idea Bounty team was invited to exhibit at TechnologyWorld09 in the UK this week. So Janet and I set off for Coventry at 6:00 on Monday morning to set up for two days of exhibiting.
The group of delegates at the event was interesting to say the least. We spoke to everyone from the European head of R&D for Sony Ericsson to the directors from the UK trade and investment office. All in all, I wouldn’t say that it was a perfect fit for Idea Bounty as most of the delegates were serious tech wizz’s but everyone we spoke to was very interested in Idea Bounty’s pioneering solution to creativity.
What I found very interesting was the value the conference attributed to ideas. There were numerous patent and IP attorneys present and a number of organisations were offering funding to great ideas. Of course Idea Bounty is all about great ideas and so we had some very interesting discussions with these organisations.
I walked around the entire event by the end of the first morning and two of the things which really stood out for me were the mechanical hand and the team building a brain part. The mechanical hand takes exactly the same actions as your own hand if you put on the mechanical glove. Its major use is in industries where you don’t want to have your own hand present - Like the bomb disposal industry for instance. The mechanical brain part is being built by a team of neurosurgeons and scientists across Europe who are eager to prove that one function of the brain can be replicated mechanically. If this is successful, they will be asking the Eurpoean Commission for more funds in 2011.
So all in all, it was a great day. We saw some fascinating new technology and talked to hundreds of people about great ideas and the benefits of crowd sourcing. Thank you again to the United Kingdom Trade and Investment Office for giving us the exhibition stand… Much appreciated!

what about the peperami's top 100???
Hi Billy,
The Peperami brief was the first time we experience so many submissions and to be completely honest with you we had to learn a lot very quickly.
As a consequence we have had minimal time to get together the consolation prizes for the Peperami Top 100 (since this is the first time we are doing it) and we are working as fast as we can to make sure we have everything in order as soon as possible.
We should have everything ready to go in the next three days so please hang on for a few days longer.
In the future we will be awarding runner up prizes for every brief - these runners up will be announced on the same day as the winner.
Cheers,
Daniel

Hi Jon, I want your job. How about we swap for a month and you can come make wine for a month?
OK, so how could a small company like Warwick leverage Idea Bounty - having thought about it a little, it feels like we are too small and our budgets not significant enough. True or False? Would love to play...
