Idea Bounty Wins A Pixel At The Bookmark Awards
Daniel Neville
Last night at a club called at Movida in Johannesburg the second annual Bookmark Awards were held. The Bookmarks are held by the South African Online Publishers Association and are intended to celebrate and reward excellence in the South African digital marketing field.
Now for those of you who dont know Idea Bounty is owned by a South African eMarketing agency called Quirk eMarketing. This allowed us to enter Idea Bounty into this years Bookmarkes under the Social Media category... and low and behold last night we walked away with a Silver Pixel at the awards!
Me being a rockstar - ok excuse the face, tequila does that to me.
Oh man was the evening something - firstly the venue is one of the top 18 Design Inspired Clubs in the world and walking into an entrance while being greeted by painted girls and pre drinks is just wonderful if not slightly overdone.
Painted Girls... overdone?
One of the big shocks of the night was that no Grands Prix were awarded. Now, this may sound strange to some but there is a good reason for this. The judging panel, which included Fernanda Romano of Euro RSCG, and Chris Colborn of R/GA New York, maintained the strict standards that the awards set from last year and Adrian Hewlett (OPA chairperson) had the following explanation for the strict standards; “This is a truly global discipline and we have to be benchmarked internationally”
The Quirk Team: Dan (Captain to you), Rob (the ginger general), Heidi, Asher and Gillian - our representing QuirkStars
So a big thank you must go out to everyone of you for helping us on our way to this award - it may be a South Africa award but being judged by Chris Colborn and Fernanda Romano to be of silver quality makes us proud. Thanks guys! Here's to a Gold next awards!
Oh incase you were wondering the rest of the night was spent drinking tequila and partying to the sounds of a physical theatre performance by 1st Project (highly recommend checking these guys out) and some tight indie rock tunes from Cape Town based band, The Dirty Skirts. A good night all in all - made even better by the fact that Quirk won more than an award for Idea Bounty that night - read more here!
