Be Fucking Awesome
Mari Basson
I recently stumbled upon a gem of a site dubbed by Digital Buzz Blog as “Twitter for good deeds”. It’s called Be Fucking Awesome (BFA) and it’s a place where you can tell the whole world just how awesome you actually are. What’s more - people can vote how much your good deed is worth, because no good deed should go unnoticed.
I’ve often contemplated this strange online world we live in where we constantly tell the world what we’re doing, wearing, digging and thinking - then measuring it all on bit.ly. In world where social networking feeds our narcissistic tendencies it’s about time a platform is created where we can redeem ourselves and just BFA. Or perhaps BFA is the ultimate place to revel in our vanity?
According to Evan Fry, creator of BFA some “other ideas [around the BFA concept] are cooking already”. So far you can purchase a BFA t-shirt so you can "BFA in FA gear" (their words I swear) and they have a cool FAblog set up too. I can’t help but think that being FA can change the world someday, even if it’s just a little bit – Barney Stinson would surely agree.
And because being awesome shouldn’t be a mission, you can integrate it with your Twitter updates easily. You can follow BFA on Twitter here or check out there Facebook page here.

Shaunoakes.com and I are honoured you felt compelled to write about us.
We first conceptualised befckingawesome.com 30 years ago, and have poured buckets of blood, sweat and tears into its continued development, so it was with great pride that we read your most excellent blog post.
It would have been even better had you chosen to include pictures of our chiseled features and bronzed bodies, but we'll cut you some slack seeing as this was your first attempt.
Big ups, Mari. One day you too will be great.
:) Actually Tim, I am honoured. It's not everyday a mere mortal, like myself is permitted to write about you.
Oh my, and you're down to earth too.
If there's one thing I've learnt, it's very important to keep oneself well grounded. Inflated self worth is a terrible affliction.
I'm glad you've learnt such a valuable lesson early in life. You are truly inspirational!

Very interesting concept indeed - I think this feeds directly into our increasing narcissism which you have rightly pointed out has been driven by the rise of social media.
I think its also interesting that you can vote on each deed...surly a good deed is a good deed and trying to make one more awesome than the next kinda defeats the point... once more if you take a look through the entries people ideas of what a good deed actually IS differs greatly, sure some people are taking the piss but its a point that is worth considering...
awesome post.. more please!
