Zombies

Lets face it - as far as the 'evil guys' go in horror movies zombies have always gotten the rough end of the stick and I have always felt have never been paid the attention they deserved. Well that is as much attention as a re-animated corpse that just wants to eat your brains deserves... 

However recently I have noticed the humble zombie getting more and more attention and the levels of creativity going to into making sure our flesh eating friends are appreciated is enormous. Here is a look as some of the creativeness surrounding the modern zombie.

The Zombie Survival And Defense Wiki

One really crazy resource - this site give everything from descriptions of zombies to weapons and survival tips. One of the more interesting pages is the zombie classification page which very clearly explains the difference between a voodoo zombie all the way through to a technological one. Although a large amount of the site is just allot of fun, including fully blow survival plans, there some useful parts - like the list of almost every zombie movie ever made.

The Zombie Survival Guide - By Max Brooks

Available through Random house this book my Max Brooks is a tongue in check guide on how to survive a zombie outbreak. Brooks is also the author of 'World War Z' which is an 'Oral history of the zombie war', you can get a copy in ebook form here. Some of the sections include in the Zombie Survival guide are 'Know your enemy' and information about levels a 'breakout' could reach.

Zombie Comics
Zombies have always been a part of popular culture and as a result they have made their way into the world of comics in a big way. Possibly the best of these zombie comics is 'The Walking Dead' with some brilliant art work and equally strong story line. The comic chronicles the travels of a group of people trying to survive in a world stricken by a zombie apocalypse.There are loads of other comics out there with our flesh eating friends staring, click here for a good list.

Zombie Illistrations
This is an awesome little site I found is run by illustrator Rob Sacchetto. There you can get yourself a custom dawn zombie portrait, t-shirt, posters, gift certificates and cards all themed around, you guessed it, zombies. Rob is quite handy with a pen and his illustrations are by no means poor.

Zombie Outbreak Simulator
Although no where near as cool as I thought it would be this simulator does give you a little bit of an idea of how fast a zombie outbreak could happen. The simulator is not very graphically exciting but the idea behind it is enough to keep you occupied for a good thirty minuets.

There is allot more going on out there with zombies and people seem to be getting more creative about brining these characters or ideas to life. I cant wait to see someone start some sort of world wide alternative reality game involving the flesh eating monsters. The popularity is certainly there, as evidenced by this site called Zombie Walk which is the biggest forum for zombie lovers world wide...
