Cannes Young Lions Crowdsourced Adverts
Katharina Scholtz
In 14 hours Cannes Young Lions and YouTube are going to release a brief for an ad for an unnamed charity. Contestants will then have 48 hours to make the ad, upload it to YouTube, and promote the hell out of it. Why would they want to do this? For the thrill and the warm fuzzy feeling of doing something good? Maybe, but more likely because you’ll win an “all-expenses-paid trip to Cannes to represent YouTube in the prestigious Young Lions contest.”
In the past the competition has been run with 37 teams competing, but this year the whole world can compete via YouTube. The winning advert will be chosen based on its “creativity, views and ratings”.
By crowdsourcing the adverts and their promotion Canne Young Lions and YouTube will no doubt come out with some seriously great promotion for the charity and themselves. Me likes. Go check it out:
