How To Get Yourself Noticed
Daniel Neville
When I was younger I always thought that it was only once you had a business card you actually had a real job. The funny thing is that now that I’ve actually got there and have a real job, I don’t have a business card! To be quite honest, in my opinion most business cards you see these days are decidedly boring and although they all perform their function well - take up space after you transfer the details on them into some sort of electronic format – it’s getting very difficult to justify spending large amounts of money on them, unless you create a business card with a little something extra.
For many people the business card is still the best form of marketing out there and for those companies or individuals spending a bit more on your cards could actually end up working in your favour. Generally the aim with a business card is to be memorable as well as pass on information - here is an awesome post on why people would want to keep your business card - although there are quite a few discussions about which one is more important - information or making an impression.
Here are some creative business cards that definitely made an impression on me - I suppose it’s up to the individual to remember the information.
Everything about this card is clever - from the idea that you only really ever see your own teeth in a reflection down to the indented full set of teeth on the card. It just makes you think this dentist will keep all your teeth in your mouth and not try to remove them just for some extra cash.
The Whoopee Cushion has to be one of the oldest jokes ever and somehow it’s amusing. They also make brilliant business cards for toy companies - show me one person who would lose this one!
My personal favourite - you just can’t top this - apparently the figures look like the people that they are representing. I wonder if they make Lego men with beards...
A very cleaver idea, this card not only gives you a clear idea of what Lush is about but you are more than likely going to try and plant the seeds - I would.
I’m not a fan of the words 'workout', "gym" or "fitness" but I’d pay Paul to be my personal trainer just because his card is so cool - and as an added bonus you feel like you have already started your training when you call him for your next session!
This has got to be one of the cleverest cards purely because it does not deviate too far from the traditional but still manages to leave both parties with the right number to call - even if only one of you is going to remember his first name and the other his surname.
There are tones of other brilliant creative business cards out there - click here for more examples - now the challenge is standing out amongst cards that already standout.

Hey Michael,
Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed the post.
Do you have a link to a picture of your flying business card? would love to check that out!
This is the best blog ever.Thanks. At first I thought I would apply to Lego just to get their business card.. but now I think I need to make little ships or magical pots with my name on them. hmmm.
Your site is a great resource for my creativity clients. One workshop group I facilitate brainstormed for the Red Bull event, but mostly we just drank too many concoctions and laughed.
And isn't that what creative people are supposed to do? (well, the laughing part, anyway)
Thanks again.. brilliant brilliant concept you started!
Hey Janet,
Thanks for the awesome compliments! really cool to hear that you enjoy the site and blog, we have allot of fun writing it, good to know you have fun reading it!
Sounds like you had allot of fun with the Red Bull brief - I did the same thing as you with a couple of friends and due to the laughter (its always there) we didn't get many ideas down...
good luck with any other ideas you might be brewing!
