Welcome to Idea Bounty

Matt Riley

This is our Grand Opening. Needless to say, we’re pretty nervous and very excited - a little like this :

So what is Idea Bounty all about? In a nutshell, Idea Bounty is a site that allows brands to post a brief asking for creative ideas and to offer a reward (Bounty) for the best idea.

We believe that the web offers a better way of sourcing ideas.

The traditional model for purchasing creative output (in the form of creative expertise and ideas) has dictated that a brand pay for solutions based on how many people and hours have been used in creating the end product. So it’s rare that a budget allows for more than two or three resources to be allocated to solving a brief. If you truly wanted to inject the new energy and diverse thinking of hundreds, the costs would grow exponentially as new individuals lend their expertise. Enter Idea Bounty.

It’s a new way of thinking about the way we get creative solutions. Don’t ask 2 experts, ask thousands of diverse minds. We firmly believe the best ideas are ones that disrupt and challenge convention. We hope Idea Bounty will grow into a mixed community of creative experts and diverse generalists all with a passion for really big ideas.

FNB believes we might be onto something so they took the brave (and exciting) step of being our first client. They have posted a really stimulating and challenging brief and a great Bounty of $2500. Go check it out

We’ll be posting regularly about anything and everything that has to do with great ideas. This week we have two fantastic interviews lined up. Today it’s a chat with creative / director at 180 Amsterdam, Lyall Coburn, and on Thursday it’s the king of copied ad, Joe La Pompe.

The first one is with the guy who did this (and got a FWA site of the day for it)!

Go check out Lyall’s interview here.

Enjoy Idea Bounty.

Matt.

The concept is captivating and allows an incredible flexibility in creative input. It parallels the spirit of the net, free information, incentives for innovation. In short I'm confident it'll be successful. Awesome idea!

Have a question. Lets say one know's of a solution to a probel. Such as the one of FNB and security. Its ba tecnical solution. A few other banks have done it before. Its not original. Does that mean that the the bounty cannot be claimed?

Hi Paulina,

Good question. If FNB choose to use an idea from Idea then a Bounty can be rewarded. But its also important that you only submit ideas that are original, because a clever client will have seen everything in their industry before and would'nt be excited about old news.

Stumbled here from Muti. Awesome idea, I'm certainly going to participate.
